Gamma flip alerts — when the dealer playbook changes
The gamma flip (volatility trigger, zero-gamma, dealer flip — same idea) is the strike where net dealer gamma changes sign. Above it, hedging more often fades moves (pin, range). Below it, hedging more often amplifies them (trend, air pockets). Searching “gamma flip alerts” means you want to know when that line is in play, not a generic “market is volatile” ping.
Live GEX terminals (StrikeGEX, ZeroGEX, Gexmap) plot the flip every minute. SpotGamma publishes a Vol Trigger in the AM note and HIRO for flow. We pull a Tradier-built flip on the desk, then the scanner uses it as a hard gate on naive wall-fades: you do not get a high-grade fade into a put wall in negative gamma unless it is a reclaim or a flow-confirmed break — not a knife-catch. Full write-up: Gamma flip for SPY.
What we will and will not ping
- Will: a confirmed close through the flip with flow (regime-change / momentum-break archetype), or a reclaim back through it.
- Will not: spam every wiggle around the flip, or treat the flip as a magnet to buy ATM premium into.
The flip is a level in the confluence score, not a standalone buy. Combine with gamma wall alerts and the desk map. How it works · Subscribe.
