Intel just printed. Your SPY 0DTE still has to wait.
Educational market note. Not investment advice. Not a trade recommendation.
Intel (INTC) ripped about 11% after-hours on a real beat — not a rumor.
- Adjusted EPS $0.42 vs $0.21 expected
- Revenue $16.1B vs $14.42B expected
- Data Center & AI revenue +59%
- Fastest overall revenue growth in nearly 15 years
- Upbeat Q3 outlook
FinTwit will screenshot the candle, yell “semis are back,” and pre-position SPY/QQQ 0DTE like the open is already decided.
That’s the trap — and the AH fade already showed why.
1) Single-name AH ≠ index cash open
INTC can gap — and then fade the gap on soft Q&A answers. SPY still has to auction. Overnight futures will bake some of this in. The first 0DTE edge is almost never “I read the press release at 4:15.”
2) Earnings weeks split the book
This week already showed it: the index can look calm while megacaps go to war. Intel’s AI print is fuel for the semis narrative. It is not automatic permission to buy the first green SPY call at 9:31.
3) What actually matters at tomorrow’s open
- Mark the overnight ES / NQ high and low
- Re-pull gamma walls after the open (OI shifts overnight)
- Wait for a rail + confirmed candle
- If flow agrees, grade it
- If it’s a mid-range chase off an INTC headline — stand down
4) How to use Intel without becoming the liquidity
Trade INTC only if that’s your vehicle and you accept gap risk. If your book is SPY 0DTE, treat Intel as context:
- Risk-on lean for semis / NQ lead-lag
- Wider open possible
- Demand cleaner confluence than a quiet Tuesday
The print was strong. Your process still has to be stronger.
5) The boring checklist that still pays
Before you click buy on SPY 0DTE into the next session:
- Regime — spot vs gamma flip
- Level — wall / magnet / OR edge
- Candle — closed, not anticipated
- Flow — confirms, doesn’t invent
- Liquidity — spread tax won’t eat the scalp
Miss one → stand down. Standing down is a position.
